Areaware's Next Chapter
A few months ago, Areaware shared that it would be closing its doors. It felt, for many of us, like the loss of something special: one of those rare brands that made the world feel a little more interesting, a little more joyful, a little more…designy.
We felt it too. As longtime admirers—and proud stockists—of the brand, Areaware has been part of our world for years.
So we’re very glad to say: this is not the end of Areaware.
Piecework has acquired Areaware, and we’ll be carrying it forward into its next chapter.
Areaware has spent the past two decades championing independent designers and bringing their ideas to life as objects that balance fun, thoughtfulness, and everyday use. At Piecework, we’ve always believed in elevating the objects that fill our lives—treating them as opportunities for creativity, storytelling, and connection. Continuing Areaware’s legacy felt like an intuitive fit. One that we are honored to take on.
Our goal is not to reinvent Areaware, but to preserve what made it special: its commitment to designers, its sense of play, and its ability to make things that spark curiosity and bring good feelings into daily life. Areaware will continue as its own brand, with its own voice and incredible roster of designers.
We’re taking things thoughtfully (as Areaware always has). We’ll be working with many of the same people, revisiting beloved pieces, and developing new products and collections that build on what’s come before. Select products will begin to return later this year, with more to follow.
To the designers, collaborators, and “designy people” who have loved Areaware over the years: we’re so glad you’re here. We can’t wait to build what comes next with you—and to share more soon.
